Antibacterial soap and viruses
Viruses can be active for hours and even days. This is why simple cleaning and disinfecting can help protect yourself from infection. Washing your hands regularly with antibacterial soap is still your best bet against the virus.
There is a proper way to wash your hands. The rule of thumb is that you have to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with warm water and soap. Water is just not enough. While it can remove germs on your hands, there are still those that cling on for dear life. The soap will help remove these germs.
Washing with anti-bacterial soap has become more important now more than ever because it has been proven effective against viruses. The world is currently in the middle of a COVID-19 pandemic, caused by the novel coronavirus.
According to Vox, soap is composed of molecules that have dual nature. On one side, the molecule is attracted to water and repelled by fats and proteins. The other side is attracted to fats and feels the opposite when it comes to water. Coronaviruses are surrounded by fat and protein. The fat and protein coverage are disintegrated because of the soap’s components that are attracted to fat and protein on one side and repelled by them on another side. Once the viruses are destroyed, they are washed off your hands by the water.
