What is coronavirus strain?
There are several coronaviruses. So when you say coronavirus strain, it means a genetic variant of the coronavirus. The previously identified strains of the coronavirus are the SARS and MERS. The former refers to the severe acute respiratory syndrome while the latter is the Middle East respiratory syndrome. The current global health crisis is known as the novel coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019). This strain was found in late 2019 after several people in China fell ill. A lot of them died, too.
COVID-19 causes respiratory illness in people. Those who contract the disease experience fever, cough and shortness of breath. The virus can also spread easily. Human-to-human transmission is caused by respiratory droplets. It could spread among people within six feet of each other. The disease can also be contracted when people touch surfaces that have been sprayed with the virus, and then bring the hand to the mouth, nose or eyes.
The best way to prevent the spread of the virus is if people practice proper hygiene. Regularly wash your hands and do it properly, too. There is a proper way of washing your hands and that includes rubbing with soap for at least 20 seconds. Also, always wash with running water. You may also use alcohol-based sanitizer.
