PM 2.5 Carbon Filter

The PM 2.5 carbon filter is popular among people who want to protect themselves from air pollution or carbon monoxide emissions. The PM 2.5 carbon filter is basically an insert to a mask to protect you from various particulate matter especially those with the diameter of 2.5 µm. The PM 2.5 is quite harmful because it can penetrate the lungs because of its small size. The carbon filter is disposable. It is a filter sheet that you insert in your mask so that you don’t have to inhale the PM 2.5. A mask with the carbon filter is particularly important during haze. By filtering out pollutants, you are also improving your lung capacity.

But with the pressing matter now being the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), PM 2.5 carbon filter is also being used so that people will be protected from the novel coronavirus. Experts, though, noted that the coronavirus measures at 0.1 µm. This means that it is smaller than the 2.5 µm cutoff of the filter. It can still trap around 10% to 20% of the viruses. So while it may work with people who practice social distancing, the PM 2.5 carbon filter will definitely not work with healthcare workers who have direct contact with COVID-19 patients.
